The National Youth Arts award-winning Francis Parker Theater Arts is proud to present our Summer Alumni Show V – The Sunshine Boys!
Performed in the intimate Baron’s Theater in Whiskey Row Lofts (131 W. Main Street, Louisville, KY 40202), this summer’s performance is the fifth in a series of Francis Parker alumni shows directed by Theater Arts Director Reed Gabhart. These alumni productions feature students who attended the school’s JK – 8th grade campus in Goshen or high school in downtown Louisville. It has been four years since the last alumni show due to the pandemic, and everyone is excited to be reuniting to create theater together!
Written by Broadway superstar, Neil Simon, The Sunshine Boys is a laugh-out-loud comedy that debuted on Broadway in 1972 and went on to be made into an Academy Award-winning movie starring Walter Matthau and television and movie legend George Burns. Al and Willie as “Lewis and Clark” were top-billed vaudevillians for over 43 years. Now they haven’t even spoken in over 11 years! When CBS requests them for a “History of Comedy” retrospective, a grudging reunion brought together by Willie’s harried agent (and niece!), Bonnie, brings the two back together, along with a flood of memories, miseries, and laughs.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased online here or at the door. Cash, credit cards, and checks are accepted.
The Sunshine Boys contains some profanity and adult themes and is recommended for students in 7th grade and above. The Sunshine Boys is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French, Inc. (www.concordtheatricals.com).
