Last week, our Preschool faculty attended a workshop provided by the Langsford Learning Acceleration Centers on the latest research in building literacy skills with young students. The Scientifically Based Reading Research (SBRR) is clear and there is a consensus as to how children learn to read, where they can get stuck, and how to help. Langsford Center Founder Stephen McCrocklin discussed the components of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. It was an informative session for our teachers to participate in together. The biggest takeaway we have for parents is to read to your children daily!

Join us next week, Thursday, October 25th from 9:10 – 9:40 a.m. for our first Big Sing of the year. Faith Murphy will lead us in a sing-along full of songs the children are learning in her classes.
